Free COVID-19 testing is available in all 10 counties across the Georgia Department of Public Health’s South Health District. The South Health District includes Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Tift and Turner Counties.

Anyone interested in being tested for COVID-19 can call their local health department or the South Health District COVID-19 Hotline to be screened and to schedule their appointment.

Testing is offered by appointment only. Individuals must arrive at their designated testing site during their appointment time. Those arriving without an appointment will be told to call and schedule an appointment and asked to return during their designated appointment time.

 Testing is available in Lowndes, Tift, Ben Hill, Cook, and Turner Counties Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Public Health has also established “satellite” testing sites in Brooks, Berrien, Irwin, Lanier and Echols Counties. These health departments are each open for testing two days a week in their respective counties. Residents of those counties can schedule appointments in their home counties on the designated testing days or can come to any of the other Public Health testing locations if those two days do not fit their schedule or if they would prefer to be tested sooner.

Testing is available from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in Brooks and Lanier Counties on Mondays and Tuesdays,  Irwin County on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Echols and Berrien Counties on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Individuals can still be referred for testing by their primary care physician, however a physician referral is no longer required.
